The main objective of this seminar is to teach people how to recognize, assess and avoid dangerous situations. You will learn safety tips regarding street situations, how to be safer while driving your car, and how to make your home safer. You will learn verbal and physical skills that can be applied if confronted by an aggressive assault from either a stranger or an acquaintance. This course will include the following information:
- What "signals" to look for ahead of time to avoid a confrontation.
- How to use your voice assertively to de-escalate problems.
- Facts about when, where and how assaults most often occur.
- Understanding "safe distance" between you and a potential attacker.
- Identify the most vulnerable areas of the body and how to strike them to cause maximum pain, allowing you to escape to safety.
- How to use "common objetcs" such as keys, a pen or an umbrella to protect yourself.
- Pros and cons of carrying mace, stun guns etc.
- "Hands on" practice of defending against various attacks from the front, side and back with partners. What to do if an attacker grabs your hair. Discuss options if the attacker has a weapon.
Physical Resistance Techniques
- How to use your legs and "core" to develop power
- Fist punch, palm heel strike, open hand strikes
- Elbow strikes
- Knee strikes
- Kicks to the front, side and back
- Stomping
Corporate and Community Presentations
Brown Bag:
A presentation for large groups lasting 45 minutes to one hour.
2 Hour Seminar:
This hands-on approach allows time during the second hour for participants to practice skills presented in the first hour. Depending on the topic and size of the room, as many as 20 can attend.
4 and 6 Hour Workshops:
On site workshops are usually presented on two separatedays, allowing time for participants to process information and gather questions regarding the topics presented. Ms. Chenault will lead formalized discussions and introduce physical exercises. Up to 20 participants can attend depending on location and topic.

Ms. Chenault is available for one-on-one consultation regarding any of the topics mentioned above or to talk to your school, business or community center.
Self defense specialist Nina Chenault has been teaching self-defense courses throughout the Unites States since 1971. Using her extensive knowledge of martial arts and research into assault prevention, she has designed a safe and effective program for the general public that's easy to learn.
