Shotokan Karate is a martial art that teaches self-discipline and self-defense. We combine traditional training methods with modern exercise science to produce maximum results in the participants. Classes are taught in a structured format with emphasis on precision and application of technique.
The perfect martial art for children, Shotokan Karate offers boys and girls ages 6 - 10 an opportunity to learn self defense skills in a safe environment. Because we teach a non-contact method, students learn blocks, kicks, punches, elbow and knee strikes in a way that allows them to practice without injury to themselves or others. There are no "hidden" equipment costs - the only thing necessary to practice is a Karate uniform (gi) that can be purchased at the time of registration.
In addition to the Karate techniques, classes are taught with emphasis on self-awareness, balance, strength and toning, concentration and focus. Belt tests are offered four times a year so the students progress from white, gold, orange, green, purple, brown and black, monitored to assure they are learning the exercises correctly and performing them well.
